Angelea's DQ

I am not classy, nor am I ghetto; regardless, I was rooting for Angelea to win ANTM All-Stars. The finale made news headlines not because of the revelation of the winner, Lisa, but because of the disqualification of Angelea which was stated without reason. I am guessing the disqualification/re-shoot happened in November.

I have been doing some scouring of the net to try to figure out what happened to Angelea. The final judging panel began with the announcement of Angelea's disqualification which Nigel stated was a result of information learnt after production finished.

I was fortunate to participate in a twitter chat with Angelea via Cammipham (and have the All-Star send me a personal reply which was pretty awesome). Around mid-November Angelea was tweeting some rather honest/negative comments about how CW and the producers did not portray events accurately (change in tone from earlier tweets). Her disqualification was probably brought to light at this time. On October 27 Angelea tweeted "I cried tears of joy tonite :-) I will be forever changed by this experience. Wow. Being someone's light is AMAZING." Is this in reference to her losing her title and being Lisa's light?

I have a strong feeling that the re-shoot of the final judging panel happened after the music video episode. Lisa posted her new single/video on her twitter right after the episode. The video was not what I expected from Lisa who is a demi-celeb trying to get into the music industry (and does have potential). The video was low budget and poorly directed. If she was actually the All-Star winner at that time, I am sure Lisa would not have bothered trying to leverage publicity on a crappy music video right after her claim to fame episode that showcases the height of her talents as a music performer.

On November 19 Lisa tweeted: "I want to win antm all-stars not cuz I think I'm better than every1 but cuz I've worked my ass off in this industry since I was 12." She also went on her first cruise this day. So maybe the re-shoot was after this?

I was gravely disappointed with the final judging panel. I hope they release the original shoot from Crete. The commentary was sparse and energy was low. I am sure Lisa and Allison already had an idea who would win (though I bet the producers said there was a chance that it would not be the runner up from the original taping). I am assuming Angelea did win the original competition since if she was a runner up, there are no prizes and a disqualification would have no bearing on anything. It would not warrant the extra costs of re-filming the final panel (resulting in a lack-lustre final scene).

Bianca tweeted that she would reveal the truth behind the Angelea matter if she hits 20,000 followers on twitter, so until that happens (or someone else enlightens us) all we can do is speculate. In the meantime, here are some of my comments from the entire season:

Auto-tune does wonders! Angelea, Dominique, and Lisa seem to have great natural voices, but I loved Alexandria's song the best; could totally imagine Go, Go, Go on an Audi ad.

This motion editorial was not nearly as dreck as the first one Tyra did, though it was amusing and laughable enough with the dub-step. The model shots are fine and great; the overall product was cheesy. And what was up with Tyra flirting with Tyrese?

The branding tags assigned to the girls did not stick, and were irrelevant. Angelea will always be classy but ghetto to me #716

We needed more Brittany and Sheena - they should have kept them around for longer.

Coco Rocha is Canadian - can we get her on CNTM (can we at least get another season of CNTM)!

Why couldn't the producers pay for the rights to play some real MJ songs during the tribute episode with LaToya, not just cheesy fake wannabe music?

Kristin Cavallari should be taking advice/critique from these girls, not dishing it!
